'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house... were beautiful fabric flowers, some as small as a mouse! We've been having fun learning how to make fabric flowers with a Kanzashi Flower Maker and Christmas fabrics. Although I originally intended to stitch the blossoms onto a background as dimensional applique - and they would be great for that! - I realized that fabric flowers could be used in many other ways as well. Browsing through the extensive array of available sewing and quilting notions gave me all sorts of ideas. Here are three ways to get into Christmas decorating with fabric flowers.
Stockings
Use a decorative button to attach a fussy-cutlarge Pointed Petal flower to your handmade or purchased stockings.
Fridge Magnet
Attach half a magnetic snap to the back of layered Pointed Petal flowers...
... to create a fridge magnet, perfect for displaying your Christmas cards or last minute to-do lists!
Christmas Tree Ornaments
Clever Clips may have been designed to hold quilt bindings in place, but sew one on the back of a lace Pointed Petal flower...
... and it will easily clip onto a branch of your Christmas tree.
Be sure to make enough Christmas fabric flowers with your Kanzashi Flower Maker to trim your tree, grace your fridge, and accessorize your stockings. Then make a few extra for gift wrapping and table setting - more ideas coming tomorrow!
Come on! Get into the spirit of Christmas decorating with fabric flowers...
