Artisan Spirit Shimmer Echoes makes potted tulips beautiful for spring

Yesterday, we made the tulip blocks using the Drunkard's Path method for our quilted wall hanging, and today we're going to make the flower pots using templates and Northcott’s Artisan Spirit Shimmer Echoes collection.

Instructions for making the flower pots

From the gray fabric, cut four 4½” x 16½” rectangles. Set aside.

From each of the flower pot fabrics of brown and dark green, cut two 2½” x 8½” rectangles.

Using the flower pot templates, cut two pots from each of the dark green and orange fabrics, and cut eight side pieces from the gray fabric.

Sew the gray side pieces to each side of the pots, and press. Repeat for the three other blocks. Trim to an 8½” square.

Sew the colored top onto the flower pot base. Make four flower pots.

Assemble the flower pot, making two green and two brown pots.

Sew a green and a brown flower pot together, side by side. Alternate blocks, and sew another set.

Two sets of two flower pots

Sew the two gray 4½” x 16½” rectangles to the bottom of both sets of pots. Press. We'll be using the remaining two 4½” x 16½” rectangles tomorrow.

Sew the gray strip of fabric to the bottom of each set of flower pots.

Come back tomorrow as we put the finishing touches on our blooming tulip quilted wall hanging using Northcott’s Artisan Spirit Shimmer Echoes fabric.
